Radford Historical Walk

walkRadford Historical Walk Saturday, 5th December at 13.00 Meet at the Beckly centreUnfortunately refreshments will not be available at the Beckley Centre on this occasion as they have a prior function.

Kevin Warley – local historian and arboretum co-ordinator has kindly offered to hold a historic tour and walk of Radford Park   I found the short time I spent with Kevin an incredible insight into local history.  There really does not seem to be anything this man does not know.  The Arboretum are also looking for volunteers for a couple of roles, including co-ordinating and maintenance of the Arboretum.

  2. Hi did not know this site exsisted until I saw the article in Herald I lived in Radford Park Road when I was about 10 and spent ages wandering around the fields and woods before the houses were built. I think 1961/2 to about 1967/8. I heard tales of cannon balls being found from the Civil War. The Kings General is one of my favourite books of Du Maurier which of course features Radford House. We used to know an elderly lady now died that lived in the derelict house in her childhood near the Radford Dip end of the road. Many times when visting my dad who lives in Wembury I have meant to walk around Radford still not made it yet.I will not be about until later in December. I am sending this link to a relative in Cornwall who will be interested though Please forward any more detail that you may have later on. I will also check the web site now I know about you. Thanks
